I've beaten normal long campaigns for the base game & RotS & FotS, so I'm not an expert, but I know a fair bit. Some things I've learned: Cavalry is useless until all enemy melee infantry units are engaged - the AI absolutely loves to spam Yari ashigaru / samurai.
