WebThe peripheral theory is also called motor theory. According to this theory the brain is one of the parts of thinking process. Since all our learning are both mental and physical, we also think with our whole parts, brain and the nervous system-the whole body. Emotions are often assumed to be judgments about a situation that cause feelings and physiological changes. In 1884, psychologist and philosopher William James proposed that physiological changes actually precede emotions, which are equivalent to our subjective experience of physiological changes, and are experienced as feelings.
